Visit the Lake District: England’s largest National Park is home to Scafell Pike – its highest mountain, Wastwater, its deepest lake and thriving communities like Keswick and Bowness-on-Windermere. The area, which was designated a National Park on 9 May 1951 is the most visited national park in the United Kingdom with 15.8 million annual visitors and more than 23 million annual day visits. Moreover, the Lake District is home to a plethora of wildlife, due to its range of varied topography, lakes and forests.

Cheddar Gorge

Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar in Somerset, England. The gorge is the site of the Cheddar show caves, where Britain’s oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, estimated to be over 9,000 years old, was found in 1903.[1] Older remains from the Upper Late Palaeolithic era (12,000–13,000 years ago) have been found.[2] The caves, produced by the activity of an underground river, contain stalactites and stalagmites.
